your voice

I have not slept well.

I waited for you all day, yesterday. I needed to hear your voice. I needed to know you were all right. I needed you to know that I needed you.

I walked into Starbucks yesterday and ordered your favourite drink. It was the only connection of you that I could bring with me. I sat there alone and sipped it slowly. It pained my heart that you were not with me. I wondered if you were alright. It was almost night and I hadn't heard a word from you.

I listened on my phone, to the message you had left for me last week. I played it again and again just to hear your voice. It brought me some comfort.

When you finally called and said the things you said to me, it made all the difference. It also made me realise how our hearts were so tuned to each other that I would say the things you wanted me to say.

I looked for your message today but I could not find it. But I have your voice on my phone, and in my heart. That will have to do for now.

I have been missing you so much that it hurts. I cannot wait for a time when we will see each other again, but I will wait.
